A group of community-spirited residents near Burnham-On-Sea have been busy refurbishing a local school’s playground and garden over the Easter holiday.

Eight members of East Huntspill School’s PTA spent Good Friday painting, repairing and planting to give the facilities a fresh new look ahead of the start of the summer term.

PTA Chairwoman Claire Moxley says the group is grateful for the support of its helpers and several local businesses.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The school’s garden and play area was in a poor condition, and the children couldn’t use it so we decided to rescue it over the Easter holiday and restore it back to its former glory.”

“The vegetation has been cut back, new flowers planted, the roof of the shelter has been cleaned, several small overhanging trees have been cut back, the fences have been painted, and wooden play equipment has been painted.”

“We couldn’t have done it without the help of the PTA and family members, plus the support of several local businesses.”

“We thank R Millard & Son funeral directors for donating plants, Quick Sign for a great deal on signs, West Hill Farm Caravan Park for our planters, and Motorfix for supplies of paint.”
