Burnham-On-Sea hair salon shuts as beauty salon gets new owner

-

A Burnham-On-Sea town centre hair salon has closed this week, although the beauty salon side of the business is continuing with a new owner.

Enhance in Burnham’s High Street ceased trading on Thursday (July 20th), its owners Susan FitzGibbon and Neil Brewer announced.

They took over the business two and a half years ago and have taken the difficult decision to close due to unexpected challenges.

Susan added: “Turnover has been good, but we’ve unfortunately struggled with resourcing issues, the rising cost of small business tax, pensions and wages, and changes to footfall in the town centre caused by the Morrisons closure.”

“We’re really sad to have to close, but we feel everything is against small businesses developing these days,” she added.

The beauty salon side to the business has been sold to a new company, Beauty Oasis Day Spa.

The firm owns three other salons in the area and has ambitious plans for the business. Three employees – Hayley, Jadene and Sophie – have been taken on by the new owner.

All the beauty appointments that have been booked are unaffected. Contact details for the salon are unchanged.
