The group that organises Burnham-On-Sea’s food festival has been shortlisted for three awards at the prestigious National Outdoor Events Association Awards 2017.

Eat: Festivals are finalists in the ‘Event Organisers of the Year’, ‘PR Campaign of the Year’ and ‘Small Event of the Year’ categories.

Susan Tanner, NOEA’s chief executive, said: “This year saw a 50% increase in nominations across all categories for the awards which was unprecedented. Consequently our judges had a hard job to decide on the three or four shortlisted in each category today.”

Alistair Turner, head judge and managing director of Eight PR & Marketing, said:
“The quality of entry has been greatly improved on previous years and some amazing events have applied. The strength of entries was excellent. It is a huge achievement for those shortlisted today and we look forward to seeing who is named as winners in November.”

James Heappey, MP, added: “As the MP for Burnham-on-Sea, and the chairman of the Parliamentary group representing the UK events industry, it is fantastic to see the local food festival again recognised by the their peers in the events industry.”

The organising team is riding high at the moment after scoping the top award at the Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards last month when the pair were named the 2017 Food Heroes.

NOEA is the UK’s leading outdoor events trade association fights the events industry’s corner with campaigns ranging from tackling police costs to calling for a ban on Chinese lanterns due to the danger to life, livestock and land.

The awards will be presented by James Heappey MP Chair of the All Parliamentary Group for Events at the Pump Rooms on Wednesday 22nd November.
