Sporting celebrities to support golf event in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Three sporting celebrities will be in Burnham-On-Sea this Friday (April 28th) to take part in a charity golf event.

Well-known BBC TV sports presenter John Inverdale will be joined by Sir Gareth Edwards CBE, a Welsh former rugby union player has been described as “arguably the greatest player ever to don a Welsh jersey”, and Matt Perry, a leading English rugby union rugby player.

The event, in aid of Cerebral Palsy, will be held at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club and is being organised by Burnham resident Carl Turnell.

Carl told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “My son Harry, who is 14, suffers from Cerebral Palsy, so we are arranging a Charity Golf Day to give something back and raise funds to help other children with Cerebral Palsy.”

“We are delighted to have celebrity backing for the event and hope that this golf day can become an annual event for charity.”

“Harry and his brother Freddie are keen players and will be taking part.”

He added: “We have also set up an auction page where people can bid for some great prizes. It’s online now for local people here.”
