A Burnham-On-Sea fundraiser is gearing up to take part in a 105-mile race across the Scottish Highlands to raise money for a local charity.

Jane Lambert, a senior instructor at Burnham-On-Sea’s Tae Kwon-Do club, is heading up to Scotland to compete in the challenge in aid of East Huntspill charity Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

Burnham Tae Kwon-Do students were in attendance at Secret World’s recent Summer Party, a fund raising event, when they showed off their skills and enjoyed a day out in the sunshine.

Jane told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Every year I like to do something for a local good cause, and having met Pauline Kidner after discovering an injured kestrel I decided I’d like to raise money for Secret World to help them continue all the amazing work they do.”

“This year I am taking on my biggest challenge yet, my plan is to run, ride and kayak 105 miles across the Scottish Highlands, literally travelling from one side of Scotland to the other!”

“The race from Nairn to Ballachulish, starts at 8.30am on Saturday 9th September and takes around 14hours to complete. It is going to be amazing and the views spectacular!”

“I will be passing Cawdor Castle, kayaking over Loch Ness and finishing with a half marathon over Ben Nevis! I’ve already raised over £1000 and thinking about that will keep me going when things get tough!”

Burnham’s Tae Kwon-Do club meets every Tuesday and Thursday at King Alfred School in Highbridge, and beginners of all ages and abilities are always welcome
