A Police investigation is underway after the theft of several valuables from a Burnham-On-Sea jewellery shop.

Hundreds of pounds of items were taken from Antony James in Burnham-On-Sea High Street, pictured above, last week.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A man and a woman went into the jewellery shop at lunchtime on Tuesday (18th July) to look at rings.” They took two rings off a ring pad and left the shop.”

“They returned later in the afternoon. While the woman was talking to a shop assistant, the man tried to take two rings but the assistant grabbed both rings and the suspects left, got in a car and drove away.”

Several rings were recovered. It’s believed that other items were also taken in the incident and Police enquiries are continuing in what appears to have been a ‘distraction theft’.

Anyone with information should call Burnham-On-Sea Police on 101.
