Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Karate Club instructor Sensei Nick Smith is celebrating receiving his 8th Dan.
Club founder Sensei Nick was totally lost for words last week when what seemed to be a routine training session for the junior cadets turned into something extra special.
“Unknown to Nick, his son Matt Smith 5th Dan, had secretly been in communication with other club instructors and British Wadokai, Sensei Gary Swift 8th Dan,” says a club spokeswoman.
“In front of a packed Dojo of students, friends and family, Sensei Gary presented a speechless Nick with his 8th Dan in recognition of his knowledge, dedication and commitment to Wado Ryu Karate.”
