Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called out on Sunday afternoon (June 11th) to help two kite-surfers.

Coastguard Station Officer Dave Welland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Two kite-surfers were out in the bay off Burnham Beach enjoying the afternoon breeze.”

“While they were out there, the tide had turned and started to expose the mud.”

“The jetty supervisor in Burnham was becoming concerned that they could be caught out and become unable to return to the safety of the shore.”

The Coastguards were called and quickly spotted them with binoculars and headed off in the truck along the beach to them.

“Thankfully the surfers were very knowledgeable of the tides and before they were cut off made their way back to shore without any danger. There was no need for them to be rescued.”

The jetty supervisor did the right thing in calling us, if they had become cut off by the falling tide they could have become stuck.
