Coastguards called out to help two kite surfers
Coastguards were called out on Sunday afternoon (June 11th) to help
Station Officer Dave Welland told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Two
kite-surfers were out in the bay off Burnham Beach enjoying the
they were out there, the tide had turned and started to expose the
jetty supervisor in Burnham was becoming concerned that they could
be caught out and become unable to return to the safety of the shore."
Coastguards were called and quickly spotted them with binoculars
and headed off in the truck along the beach to them.
the surfers were very knowledgeable of the tides and before they
were cut off made their way back to shore without any danger. There
was no need for them to be rescued."
jetty supervisor did the right thing in calling us, if they had
become cut off by the falling tide they could have become stuck.
