Burnham-On-Sea RNLI crewmember Lesley Hart has received an excellence in volunteering award during a special presentation event in Leeds.

She was nominated by two separate people for the level 7 award (out of 9) which had to be passed by the board of trustees.

Lesley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The award came as a huge surprise to me but it’s an honour to have been recognised in this way.”

“Being a volunteer and a fundraiser isn’t easy but it’s worth it. However, none of it would have been possible without the incredible team of fellow volunteers at the station.”

“Every one of them deserves a little piece of this award. We have a fantastic team in Burnham-On-Sea and I am just proud to be a part of that.”

Burnham-on-Sea RNLI spokesman Mike Lang added: “As well as being a lifeboat crewmember, the training for which Lesley completed a regular blog all about her experiences, Lesley is also the Burnham-On-Sea RNLI fundraising chair, and took a lead role in organizing this and last year’s RNLI ball.”
