Six-vehicle M5 accident caused rush-hour delays in Burnham area

-

Traffic was disrupted on the M5 motorway through the Burnham-On-Sea area on Friday evening (September 22nd) following a multi-vehicle accident.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway between junctions 24 and 25 just before 6pm. Queues of traffic quickly built up back to Burnham’s junction 22.

“Fire appliances from Bridgwater and Taunton attended a multiple-vehicle collision where it was initially unknown if any persons were still inside the vehicles,” a spokesmam told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“On arrival, crews confirmed there were six vehicles involved, but no casualties physically trapped.”

“Crews made the vehicles safe, assisted the Police on scene and also the ambulance service with casualty care.”

There were not understood to be any serious injuries.
