One of the key people working on improvements at Highbridge’s King Alfred School has been awarded an MBE for services to education.

Gail Webb, of The Priory Learning Trust, has been helping Worle Community School over the past 15 months as it continues its journey towards an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.

Gail is also working with King Alfred School and Pawlett Primary as The Priory Learning Trust Improvement Consultant.

Gail has had a distinguished career in education stretching over 40 years working locally, regionally and nationally, including a national role as Director of Learning and Teaching for the National Strategies. Now Gail has been rewarded with an MBE.

Denise Hurr, Headteacher of The King Alfred School, said: “Gail has already provided much support to our school. Her understanding of education is second to none.”

Neville Coles, Executive Principal of The Priory Learning Trust, added: “Gail is a magnificent person to have in education and this is a thoroughly deserved honour. She inspires others to go further and to provide excellent learning environments.”
