Burnham-On-Sea community groups have been handed a cash boost of nearly £13,000 thanks to fundraisers at the town’s Moose Lodge and Burnham-On-Sea Ladies Circle.

At a special presentation this week, a huge £5,631 was donated by the ladies group to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance with the Moose brothers handing over £246, as pictured above.

Dementia support group Music For The Memory also benefitted from £750 from the ladies alongside a personal donation of £50 from one of the Moose members.

More than £900 went to Children in Need, £190 to the Friends of Burnham-On-Sea Memorial Hospital and cheques for £150 were handed over to the Friends of Marine Cove, In Charley’s Memory, Parkinson’s Support Group and the Fibromyalgia Support Group.

The presentation evening was followed by a buffet supper, catered for by the Ladies Circle catering team.

Ladies Circle President Yvonne Cornelius officially passed on the role to Pat Burge, who will nominate a charity for the ladies to support in the near future.

Burnham RNLI also received a donation from the Moose

Moose Governor Ron Fisher handed over the reins to successor Jim Dolan, whose chosen charity for the coming year will be Cots for Tots.
