BREAKING: Man air-lifted to hospital after assault in Highbridge

A man has been air-lifted to hospital this evening (Sunday) following a serious incident in Highbridge.

A young man was allegedly struck with a golf club by an attacker in Morland Road at around 6pm.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and the man was rushed to a nearby air ambulance.

Residents told that the injured man was lying in the road near the junction with North Avenue, which has been sealed off by Police as the investigation gets underway.

A yellow Dorset and Somerset air ambulance landed in a car park at nearby King Alfred School and took off at 8.15pm with the casualty onboard.

A Morland Road resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told that everyone was in "complete shock" by the nature of the incident.
