Burnham-On-Sea swim coach wins Pride of Somerset Youth Award

A Burnham-On-Sea swimming coach has been handed a Pride of Somerset Youth Award for his work in promoting the sport in the local community.

Nathan Clarke, 18, from Burnham-On-Sea Swimming Club was nominated for his work with the club's young swimmers at Brean Splash.

The Pride of Somerset Youth Awards, now in their tenth year, took place at Bridgwater and Taunton College last Friday (March 17th).

Ian Ramus, President of the Rotary Club of Taunton, presented Nathan with his award in recognition of his efforts in promoting swimming in the community as a coach and ambassador.

Nathan, a King Alfred School sixth form student, was nominated for his long hours with the sport as a coach, teacher and judge.

He told "It came with a bit of a surprise however I very much appreciate being nominated and receiving a Pride of Somerset Youth Award."

"The ceremony was fantastic and it was humbling listening to all the winners stories. I want to take the time to thank all who nominated me and decided to give me an award. I wish to continue and progress my swimming teaching and coaching long into the future."

Last year, we reported here how Nathan had won a bronze award in the national ASA Volunteer of the Year category.
