Burnham-On-Sea Police have handed out safety advice to residents and urged extra vigilance following a series of burglaries and attempts by a man to gain entry to homes over the weekend.

Police spent much of Sunday giving out leaflets to shoppers at Burnham’s Tesco store, as pictured here, featuring security advice on protecting homes.

“We have seen a series of burglaries and attempts to gain entry to homes in Burnham over the past few days and urge residents to be extra vigilant and keep doors locked,” said PCSO Tracey Grobbeler.

It follows a weekend of incidents that included a burglary in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening.

Police are continuing to hunt for this man in Burnham-On-Sea in connection with their enquiries.

“We were called to Stoddens Road on Saturday afternoon after multiple reports of a man trying door handles to gain entry to homes,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

As pictured here, several police teams were called to Stoddens Road where Police dogs were used in the search for a man who officers say could be linked to the spate of incidents.

There has been a recent upsurge in burglaries in Burnham and Highbridge when valuables have been stolen.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact us on 101,” added the spokesman.
