An investigation is underway into what caused a power cut that briefly blacked out over 10,000 homes across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge on Monday evening (November 6th).

Western Power Distribution spokeswoman Tracy Carr told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had 10,497 customers without electricity in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge for around 30 seconds at around 5pm on Monday evening.”

“Our team of engineers went out and walked part of the line, but no damage was found.”

“Western Power’s helicopter has flown over the power lines this week to further investigate the cause – it’s possible it was a bird strike.”
