Death of 30 year-old at Highbridge rail station ‘not suspicious’ – police

Detectives investigating the circumstances which led to a man’s death at Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea station have now classified his death as ‘non-suspicious’.

The incident happened at approximately 11.45am on Sunday (2nd April) when a 30-year-old man from the local area fell from a bridge at the station.

Police officers from British Transport Police attended and, following an examination of the scene, have determined the death to be unexplained.

Since then, a post-mortem examination has taken place and detectives are now satisfied that there is no suspicion surrounding his death.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Jacqueline Thomas, said: “A death of a family member is utterly devastating and our officers continue to provide support to this man’s family.”

“Since the incident occurred, our detectives have carried out a number of enquiries and we are confident there are was no suspicious circumstances which led to this man’s death. We will now be preparing a file for the coroner.”
