A Burnham-On-Sea caravan park celebrated its 70th anniversary with a special celebration for guests and supporters at the weekend.

Retreat Caravan Park in Berrow Road marked its seventh decade with a unique birthday party for hundreds of visitors.

“To celebrate 70 years of family ownership, 400 guests joined us for a magnificent evening,” said the park’s co-owner Debbie March.

“Past and current owners got together to enjoy Luke Perry with his magic and balloon show and music from local band Six Machine.”

Roger Jackson, whose grandfather Ben Priest purchased the Retreat in 1947, presented five special floral bouquets prepared by Burnham-On-Sea florist Flowers and Things to the park’s oldest owners who have been with the Retreat since the early 60’s.

Debbie March, the fourth generation of the family to run the Park, led the speeches and the cutting of a unique cake before launching the Retreat’s new 70th Birthday video which re-created her childhood memories of growing up on the Park before declaring it was time to party to Six Machine!

Guests were treated to a hog roast followed by queuing in the rain for a Mr Whippy ice cream!

The evening also supported Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue with a raffle raising £550.
