Road safety was in the spotlight at Berrow School when a special safety awareness day was held this month.

The pupils were visited by a large DHL haulage lorry to illustrate road safety and illustrate some of the dangers to the children.

The event was part of a national safety training programme funded by the DHL UK Foundation called Trucks and Child Safety (TACS).

The programme aims to help keep children safe around larger vehicles on the road and targets children aged seven to 11 years old as they start to travel independently.

Lucy Donaghy, Clerk to the Governors, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “All of the school took part. Our head teacher felt as summer is approaching and the traffic will become a lot busier, it would be a good time to reinforce road safety with the pupils as it is an essential life skill. It proved to be a great learning experience for the children.”
