Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club appoints David Underwood as President

-

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club has a new President this week folowing the group’s annual handover.

Mark Newbery handed over the President’s chain to David Underwood during a ceremony at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club on Thursday evening (June 29th), as pictured here.

“It’s been a busy year with lots of activities including visits and fundraising events – it’s been an enjoyable 12 months,” said Mark.

David Underwood, the incoming President, is a familiar figure around Burnham as manager of Burnham Funeral Services until his retirement earlier this year.

“I do intend to make some significant adjustments this year to make the club more appealing to a wider and younger membership,” David told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

He emphasises that Rotary “is not an elitist club for old men, but is a vibrant and active organisation for men and women which helps provide community service both locally, nationally and to all corners of the world.”

If you would like to know more about the largest non sectarian, non political community service organisation in the world then contact either David on 01278 788022 or the club secretary Hugh Mackay on 01278 787579.

The club, which has 28 members, meets every Thursday evening at the Burnham and Berrow golf club from 7pm.
