Weekend of events mark completion of Burnham church’s upgrade

-

A weekend of celebrations is being held at St Andrew’s Church in Burnham-On-Sea to mark the completion of a major refurbishment project.

The 700-year-old building has undergone a programme of internal improvements – the first for 40 years.

It has been redecorated inside, a new lighting system has been installed, the Organ pipes have been restored and furniture cleaned over recent months.

The church will be open today (Saturday, September 2nd) when an art exhibition and floral displays will be on show.

And this evening at 7pm there will be a gala concert led by the church choir and other local singers. All are welcome to share in and no tickets are necessary.

The Vicar, Reverend Graham Witts, added: “Then, on Sunday, we will hold a celebration service at 10am to give thanks for the new works and to commit our church to the use of the worshipping community and the wider town alike.”

He said: “It has been my vision that St Andrew’s is the church at the heart of the community, used by so many people in many different ways to mark life and community events.”

“We look forward to sharing in this celebration with anyone who wishes to join us.”
