Dozens of homes were without power in the Burnham-On-Sea area last night as strong winds caused by Storm Aileen swept through the region.

Western Power Distribution told Burnham-On-Sea.com that over 180 homes were without power in Brent Knoll on Tuesday evening (September 12th).

“A low voltage fault caused by high winds left 186 homes without power from 8.12pm through to 9.40pm in Brent Knoll,” a spokesman confirmed, adding apologies for the interruption to supplies.

Gusts of wind of over 60mph, along with heavy rain, affected the area. The Met Office put in place a yellow warning.

Several trees and fences in the Burnham-On-Sea area were damaged by the winds.
