Brean swimming event to be dedicated to its Burnham-On-Sea founder

-

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club will be dedicating a long-running charity swimming event to its founder today (Sunday).

The annual Brean Swimarathon will be dedicated to the late Jim Tancock, Past President of the Club, pictured here on the left, who died last year. A plaque will also be unveiled in his memory.

The event will take place at Brean Splash on Sunday 5th February.

Spokesman George Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Entries are still coming in and local organisations, families and businesses are invited to enter one or more teams of up to six swimmers.”

“The entry fee to the club is £25 per team to cover expenses. The teams and their organisers get their own sponsorship for whatever cause they are raising funds to support.”

“The sponsorship can be on a ‘per length’ basis or a flat sum basis and if the beneficiary is a charity the sponsorship can be Gift-Aided so that the charity receives an extra 25% of the sum raised.”

“The Rotary Club is grateful to the House Family of Brean Leisure Park for kindly allowing the pool to be used.”
