new homes next to Burnham's Tesco store win final go-ahead
to build 17 new homes next to Burnham-On-Sea's Tesco supermarket
have been given the final go-ahead this week.
development of vacant land to the west of the Tesco store in Burnham's
Ben Travers Way was the subject of a so-called 'reserved matters'
original planning application for 17 homes at the site was approved
by Sedgemoor District Council in February 2014 despite objections
from local residents.
conditions were placed on the developer to protect the privacy and
'amenity' of nearby residents.
applicant, EG Carter & Co, has been seeking consent for 'reserved
matters' items covering the appearance, landscaping, layout and
scale of the site.
District Council considered the updated scheme at their latest planning
meeting and approved it.
local resident, Steve Fraser, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Rather
ironically, there are lots of planning restrictions for birds and
badgers but no mention of protecting residents from fears about
access to the site out of hours or the nightmare of everything coming
through Olivier Close, as per the Mulberry Park experience of 2014."
