farmer's tractor destroyed by fire, weeks after big barn blaze
farmer has spoken of his shock at this dramatic fire which completely
destroyed a tractor near Burnham-On-Sea on Monday (September 25th)
just weeks after he suffered a huge barn blaze.
fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea were called to a field in Red Road,
Berrow at 9.15am on Monday, where the vehicle was engulfed in flames,
as pictured here.
used a compressed air foam jet and two breathing apparatus to extinguish
it, but the fire had destroyed it."
Richard Bigwood, who owns the vehicle, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"My brother was using it to cut grass when smoke suddenly started
pouring out from under the hood and it quickly went up in flames."
fire spread to the whole tractor and despite the quick response
of the fire crews, sadly it's a complete write-off, but at least
think it was caused by an electrical fault - it was an old tractor."
added: "I have had a very unlucky year after suffering a big
fire in Brean that destroyed a barn and winter feed during August.
Now this. I'm starting to know the fire crew on first-name terms."
