Tractor run raises funds for Burnham-On-Sea community group

-

Farmers from across the Burnham-On-Sea area turned out to suppport a fundraising tractor run in aid of a local community group on Sunday (August 20th).

A dozen tractors set off across the Somerset Levels and through the area, raising funds for Music for the Memory, an independent support group based in Burnham-On-Sea with more than 60 members.

The group enables people living with Dementia or memory loss to meet in a relaxed, non-medical environment, to perform a variety of musical based activities.

“The tractors left the 37 Club in Puriton at around 10.30am and drove a 30-mile route around the beautiful Somerset levels, passing through villages and moors,” the group’s spokeswoman Julie Skinner told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“With a short stop at a pub for refreshments, they then continuing along the route and returned for a hearty ploughmans lunch.”

“Music for the Memory would like to thank the businesses who donated raffle prizes from around the area, and the 37club at Puriton who allowed us to use their premises and car park.”

“Although the turn-out was low due to farming shows that were taking place, a good amount of money was raised which will be used to help with the running costs.”

“Events like this allow us to use all the money raised for the benefit of our members.”
