Council starts legal action to move travellers from Burnham seafront

-

Legal proceedings have begun this week to move a group of travellers parked on Burnham-On-Sea seafront.

The five vehicles arrived on the South Esplanade lawns over the Bank Holiday weekend and have been parked opposite Burnham Sailing Club for several days.

Claire Faun, a spokeswoman for Sedgemoor District Council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are aware of the travellers and have started the legal process to remove them.”

“The Council has a co-ordinated plan of action to deal with these incursions, but there are statutory timescales that we have to abide by.”

A council solicitor visited the group on Tuesday morning, she added.
