Travellers leave seafront lawns in Burnham-On-Sea after legal moves

A large group of travellers who pitched up on Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront for ten days at the peak of the summer holiday season left the site on Wednesday evening (August 9th).

The group of caravans, motorhomes and vans was parked on the South Esplanade lawns opposite the Sailing Club and in the sailing club’s parking area departed amid legal action from site owner Sedgemoor District Council.

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Notice was served requiring the site to be vacated and the Council sought a court order to get them removed.”
