Legal action underway to move Burnham-On-Sea car park travellers

-

Legal action is being taken to move a group of travellers from a Burnham-On-Sea car park.

Sedgemoor District Council has served the group of travellers in Burnham’s Pier Street car park with a formal legal notice.

Four caravans with adults and young children have been parked in the far southern most area of Burnham’s Pier Street car park since Sunday, with washing hung between the vehicles, as pictured here.

“The travellers have been served with notice of a court hearing for Monday 30th October at 10am,” a coucil spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Should they remain on site it is expected that we will obtain a possession order requiring them to vacate forthwith on Monday.

It comes as Burnham’s MP James Heappey met with the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Sajid Javid this week, as reported here, to try and find a long-term solution for the issue of travellers across the constituency.
