Burnham-On-Sea couple unveil emotional Christmas lights display

-

A house near Burnham-On-Sea has been lit up with hundreds of Christmas lights to raise funds for a local baby bereavement suite and air ambulance service.

The display in Southwick Road, Watchfield, near the former Watchfield Inn, is extra special for Leanne and Matt Watts since they went through the heartache of losing a baby.

“Matt Watts and his father Kevin Watts put up the lights every year to raise money for charity,” says Leanne.

This year’s display is raising funds for The Rowan Baby Bereavement Suite at Musgrove and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

Matt and Leanne lost their baby in August 2016. Leanne added: “We wanted to raise money to help other families who unfortunately have to use the suite to say goodbye to their baby.”

The lights are being switched on every night from 5pm-9pm until January 1st and donations are gratefully received.

The switch-on saw a snow machine, mulled wine, and homemade sausage rolls and mince pies while Mark Church Choir sang festive carols and there was even a special visit by Father Christmas.
