volunteer raises £10,000 for tourist information centre

tourist information centre running has been thanked during the group's
AGM this week.

plus regular raffles for BIARS (Burnham Information And Rescue Support),
which runs the seafront information centre.
was presented with a certificate and a gift by the group's Chairman,
Tom Ashton, on behalf of the group, during the group's AGM on Tuesay
evening (June 26th).

Ashton said it had been a "challenging year financially"
but he praised the 40 volunteers' dedication in running the centre.
Ian Jefferies also thanked the centre's helpers, adding that two
thirds of them have been there from BIARS starting seven years ago,
which shows the "huge dedication and commitment being put in."
He also thanked Sedgemoor District Council for their support of
added that the centre's footfall counter had recorded 49,857 visitors
over the past year - which was slightly down on previous years,
with poor weather cited as the likely reason.
Ashton was re-elected as Chairman, with the Management Committee
being Ian Jefferies, Sandra Hubbard, Kate Sigrist, Mark Newman,
Gail Cruickshank, Colin Morris and Vicky Banham.
