Join the ‘Great Burnham-On-Sea Boomerang Hunt’ in town shops!

-

The Great Burnham-On-Sea Boomerang Hunt is underway this week in the town centre, with shoppers being challenged to find hiden boomerangs in 44 shop windows.

Years 1 and 2 at Burnham-On-Sea Infant School have been studying Australia this past term and part of their topic has focused on Aboriginal art.

The children have designed and made their own boomerangs using clay and paint, and they are all part of an Easter holiday project.

The Great Burnham Boomerang Hunt runs until Sunday 8th April and every boomerang that has been made is being displayed in 44 shops across the town centre.

Maps showing where the boomerangs are located are on sale for just £1.00 in the seafront tourist information centre and at Seabreeze in Victoria Street.

Jemma Harper, Year 2 Teacher and Art Co-ordinator, said: “There are also three challenges to complete on the map, which then need to be returned to the shops to be in with a chance of winning a prize.”

“There will be a prize for four children associated with our school, and a prize for someone who purchases a map in the shops.”

“All proceeds from the leaflet sales will be going towards the school’s new kiln and a whole school art project. The school plans to invite a ceramic artist this summer to help the pupils produce an outside art installation.”
