Burnham-On-Sea
breast cancer charity boosted by coffee morning
A
coffee morning raised hundreds of pounds for a local breast cancer
support charity at a Burnham-On-Sea church on Saturday (April 7th).
Becky
Stockwell, Tori Pope, Victoria Derman, Holly Macbeth and Lisa Watts
are planning to take part in a night-time fundraising walk in London
on 12th May, walking 13.8 miles in their bras in support of Somerset
Breast Cancer Now.
And,
to raise awareness of the event and fundraise, they held a coffee
morning at Burnham-On-Sea's Baptist Church in College Street.
Three
hours of serving up teas, coffees and cakes raised a grand total
of £251.29 for the charity.
"This
was amazing, and we thank you for supporting our fundraising event
for upcoming Moonwalk," Holly told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"Everyone
inspired us to keep training and we will be thinking of you all
on the big night. You never fail to amaze us with your generosity
and support."
Their
JustGiving fundraising page is available
here.
She
added: "On 12th May we will be taking part in the Half moon
Walk the walk challenge for Breast Cancer Now consisting of 13.8
miles starting at midnight wearing decorative bra's and we will
be pounding the streets of London all for our amazing charity!"
"This
is a charity close to our heart, as you may or may not be aware
we are members of the Somerset Breast Cancer Now group which has
now been active for over 21 years, to date we have raised over £515,000."
"Holly
has previously done the Full Marathon and the half marathon walk
3 times! One of these walks she walked with her late mother Christine
and former chair of the group so its a very emotional event for
Holly to take part in again. So after much convincing from the rest
of the girls we have decided that this will be our challenge for
2018."
"Its
an amazing experience being surrounded by thousands of men and women
all coming together to do this and to raise a huge amount of vital
money for this charity to continue the research into breast cancer."
The
team will be wearing hoodies sponsored by local company Somerlap.
