Dozens of carnival club members from across Somerset gathered on Saturday night (January 27th) for the annual Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival presentation evening.

Over 150 people crowded into The Oaktree in Highbridge to see scores of trophies and shields handed out to the winners of November’s parade by Carnival Chairman Phil New, President Malcolm Borland and Carnival Queen Melissa Fear, right.

Members of Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club had a great night, receiving several awards for their successful country and western cart ‘Yee Ha’.

The Spirit Of Carnival Award – given to the individual that has shown the true spirit of carnival – was presented to Steve and Phil Frost – the road warriors – to recognise their support of marshalling carnivals across the region. Masqueraders won the Chairman’s Choice after a successful year.

Phil New, Chairman of Highbridge and Burnham Carnival Committee, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a brilliant night when clubs from across Somerset came together to look back at another great year.”
