Burnham-On-Sea’s Community Centre has been given a £600 boost thanks to a fundraising cream tea.

Over 70 local people attended the event at White Lodge in Rectory Road at the weekend, raised money for vital work at the Community Centre.

Christine Owen, who leads the centre’s fundraising group and is secretary of the Friends of the Community Centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Community Centre is like the Forth Road Bridge. Because of its age, there is always something needing to be repaired.”

“The major problems at the moment are the roof and the west wall which is why we are trying to have at least one fundraising event per month, as well as our usual coffee mornings on the first Saturday of every month.”

She thanked those who attended Saturday’s event, which was held during a day of sunshine.
