A team of Burnham-On-Sea cyclists who recently set a new world record by cycling 874 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End in less than two days are holding a seafront fundraiser in the town toiday (Sunday).

The ‘Blanco’ team comprising of Tim Clark, Karl Burkett, Andy Cross and Ollie Taylor completed their marathon cycle ride from Scotland to Cornwall in a time of 43 hours, 46 minutes and 49 seconds, as we reported here.

On Sunday June 3rd, they will be on Burnham-On-Sea’s Esplanade next to the Bay View Cafe from 9am-3pm taking part in a fundraising event for Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue.

“We will be cycling on the turbo trainers, cycling all the way across Britain, to raise funds for a new BARB rescue hovercraft,” said Karl. “BARB do such a great job in keeping our coastline safe with other agencies.”

“Burnham Lions will be on hand collecting during the day, and local people are encouraged to come along and support us!”
