Life-saving defibrillator event to be held in Burnham-On-Sea tomorrow

SWASFT (South West Ambulance Foundation Trust) and BARB Search & Rescue are teaming up to hold a Community Public Access Defibrillator Event this Saturday (February 17th).

The event, running from 10am-1pm, is designed to give members of the public an insight into how and when to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. This will include learning aides and demonstrations.

"The free event will be held at BARB's Marine Rescue Centre on The Esplanade, and is open to everyone. No previous knowledge is required, just an interest and willingness to learn," says a spokesman.

"The more people that know how to use a Community Public Access Defibrillator in our community, the more of a chance of saving the life of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest."

Anna Smith, SWASFT Assistant Community Responder Officer, will be delivering the session and offering information, handouts and a presentation and answering questions alongside the BARB Team.
