BBC stars support pair’s Burnham-On-Sea golf fundraising event

-

Burnham and Berrow Golf Club has hosted a special fundraising event with several invited guests at Harry and Freddie’s 2nd Charity Golf Day in aid of Cerebral Palsy.

The event was attended by celebrities Naga Munchetty of BBC News, pictured above, and John Inverdale of BBC Sport, pictured below.

Harry, 14 and a pupil at Shapwick School, and Freddie, 13 and a pupil at Millfield Prep School, set up the charity event last year and are hoping that it will become an annual fixture.

Harry suffers with Cerebral Palsy and the boys wanted to give something back to those less fortunate.

“They had a ‘full house’ of 72 players and although the weather was poor in the morning with rain and wind they were lucky that by the time the golf started in the afternoon, the sun had come out and it was dry,” said a spokeswoman.

“It was a very successful day and everyone enjoyed themselves with some good golf played.”

“The total amount raised is still being calculated, but I feel confident it will be around the same as last year at around £6,000.”

“With last year’s money the boys contributed to a young lad with Cerebral Palsy called Nathan Freeman to purchase a new racing bike for his competitions. Nathan is now competing at a National level in disability sport.”

Freddie’s and Harry’s dad, Carl Turnell, co-ordinated the event.
