Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater fire crews were called to East Huntspill on Wednesday evening (July 4th) to rescue a horse stuck in a ditch.

One crew from Burnham-On-Sea was sent to the scene shortly before 8pm alongside the Specialist Rescue Team from Bridgwater to assist a horse stuck in a ditch.

“The crews found one large male horse up to its stomach in mud,” confirmed a spokesman.

“They were able to mechanically lift the horse to safety using specialist animal rescue equipment.”
