Highbridge woman jailed for three years after £70,000 fraud

-

A Highbridge woman has been sentenced to three years in prison this week after defrauding two companies out of almost £70,000.

Kelly Marie Ford, from Highbridge, was working as an accountant when she embezzled the money, a court heard.

The owners of two Somerset businesses, Auto Workshop and Brunel Metrology, say their companies came close to going under after they were defrauded out of the money.

Appearing at Bristol Crown Court this week, she was sentenced to three years in prison.

Andy Taylor, the managing director of Auto Workshop, said in a BBC interview after Wednesday’s ruling: “We trusted her with the accounts and she abused that trust and that’s made us very untrusting of other people. It will take a long time to put things completely back together.”
