The Mayor of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council has this week appointed his official Cadet for the year.

Jade Larkin, who is member of the local Air Training Corps, has been chosen by Mayor Bill Hancock and Mayoress Frances Hancock.

Cllr Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are thrilled to have Jade on board. It is a very special year for the RAF as they celebrate their 100th birthday and it is a real honour to have a young, enthusiastic member of the local Air Training Corps joining our Town Council ranks to help us with important civic duties throughout this year.”

The Mayor and Mayoress have this week welcomed Jade to the official role and presented her with the Mayor’s Cadet badge.

Jade will support and accompany the Mayor when he is hosting civic events in the two towns pover the coming year. These will include the Civic Service in September and Remembrance Day in November.

Her first duties will be this coming Saturday at Armed Forces Day when she will take the salute in the High Street with the Mayor and Tom Lang, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Somerset. Jade will then take part in a service at the water feature on Old Station Approach and will raise the Armed Forces Day flag.
