Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Mayor Bill Hancock has announced his charities of the year for 2018-19.

The chosen groups are the RNLI and BARB Search and Rescue.

Bill said: “This year we are shining a spotlight on all the work that takes place to keep our beautiful beaches clean and safe.”

“The RNLI and BARB carry out vital rescue services to help people who get into trouble on the beach.”

“It’s really important to make sure these dedicated teams have the equipment they need to keep our residents and visitors safe, so I will be actively supporting these groups during the year.”

“We will also be doing all we can to help the fabulous groups which organise regular beach cleans, as well as Litter Free Somerset who are helping the Town Council to work towards making our towns Plastic Free Communities.”
