Burnham-On-Sea Mayor unveils £11,000 minibus for town charity

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor has unveiled a new £11,000 minibus at a town group helping those with special needs.

Somerset Time For Youth formally launched the new vehicle at a ceremony on Saturday morning (July 14th) attended by Mayor Bill Hancock, who helped raise funds for the minibus by selecting the group as his charity of the year.

Cynthia Giddings, secretary of Somerset Time For Youth, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The minibus will be a huge godsend for us. It’s been specially modified to make it accessible for all types of special needs.”

“So we will be able to take our young people out on trips, help them to safely get to our events, and attend various activities over the summer holidays.”

“Everyone at the club is really delighted with it – and we thank the Mayor for all his support and the Big Lottery Fund for its grant funding towards the vehicle as well.”

Others in attendance at Saturday’s unveiling included Mayoress Frances Hancock, Depty Mayor Andy Brewer and Town Crier Alistair Murray.
