Police launched a search for a vulnerable missing pensioner in Burnham-On-Sea last night (Tuesday).

The man, aged in his 70s, went missing from a local home and his concerned family had raised the alarm.

Police called out Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue to assist in the search at just after 10pm.

“BARB’s volunteers were called out by Avon and Somerset Police to help search for a vulnerable missing person,” said a spokesman.

“The man, in his 70s, had been missing from his local home for several hours and Police tasked us with searching the seafront and beach.”

“BARB’s crewmembers searched along several areas of the South Esplanade using torchlights. As a team was getting ready to begin the wider search, having consulted with Coastguards, we received the good news from the Police that the man had been found safe and well, and we were stood down.”
