‘Notable and interesting people with connections to Burnham-On-Sea’ is the theme of a special history talk in the town this week.

North Sedgemoor History Group is holding its final talk in the current programme of events this Wednesday 13th June.

The talk will cover many notable and interesting people with connections to the town.

“As well as some well-known examples, such as the men who built the town in the nineteenth century, the speaker, Pat Nicholls, has discovered some that are not on any of the usual lists, including several women,” says a spokesman.

“They include an artist who has a painting in the House of Lords, a Red Cross worker who rescued people after the war, and a man who built the largest seed production firm in the world.”

The talk starts at 7pm this Wednesday in the Lecture Hall at King Alfred School, Highbridge. Visitors are welcome to attend for just £2.
