Burnham-On-Sea Police seek witnesses to arson incident in Highbridge

Burnham-On-Sea Police are appealing for witnesses following an arson incident in Highbridge earlier this month.

It happened on Thursday 2 August during the early hours of the morning at a building site in Newton Road.

Four bottles of flammable liquid were thrown over a hedge into the site, which landed near to security staff.

A Police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The suspect was chased towards Apex Park but he then disappeared from sight in a nearby housing estate.”

“A man in his 20s was later arrested on suspicion of arson with intent.”

“We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help out enquiries.”

“We would particularly like the person who had previously contacted us with information which helped us arrest the suspect to contact us.”
