Highbridge couple banned from keeping animals for 10 years

-

A Highbridge couple has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years following the discovery of two dogs in a “horrendous” condition in their care.

Ronald Andrews, 38, and Lyndsay Rich, 39, from the Poplar Estate have avoided jail despite both admitting to three charges of animal cruelty in court case.

Their distressed dogs were found in pain by inspectors from the RSPCA which brought the prosecution.

The animals’ injuries included sores, ingrowing and overgrown nails, hair loss, scabs and large numbers of fleas.

The pair were given 12 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, for each charge which will run concurrent to each other.

They also received a ten-year disqualification for owning animals, which cannot be appealed for eight years, plus an evening curfew for 12 weeks. Each must also pay £435 in court costs.
