Highbridge vicar on track to complete incredible Lent fitness challenge

-

A Highbridge vicar is on track to raise hundreds of pounds for good causes by completing a swimning and running challenge during Lent.

Rev Sharon Crossman, vicar at St John’s Church in Highbridge, has already completed 1,371 lengths of Burnham Pool – which is 21.1 miles, the distance of the English Channel.

And she’s now running around the paths of Highbridge the same distance in order to complete her incredible challenge during 18 days of Lent.

Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Sharon said: “I have swum 21 miles in Burnham Pool during recent days, which is a Channel swim, and am currently trying to complete a run over the same distance.”

“Local people have been wonderful with their support, and all the sponsorship funds are going to St John’s Church, and the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal which will support lay ministry development in Zambia.”

She added: “I was inspired to do this by the local Parkrun and love keeping myself fit. It’s a good to have a challenge like this to focus the mind.”
