Sedgemoor District Council’s contractors working on the renovation of Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront shelters are due to finally complete the work this week.

Several of the shelters along The Esplanade have been fenced off with scaffolding since the start of the summmer and the initial plan by the council was for the work to complete in time for the holidays.

Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The contractors are putting the finishing touches to the final shelter – completing the waterproofing on the roof, cutting in coping stones, and painting.”

“We hope to complete the works by the end of the week, with the scaffolding coming down at the beginning to mid next week.”

The council previously said that the contractors had lost their slot with the roofers, causing the work to be delayed over the whole summer holiday season.
