The Burnham-On-Sea area is set to see a return of bitterly cold weather this weekend with snow flurries forecast for Sunday.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for snow across our region for the whole of Sunday March 18th.

Temperatures are expected to fall to -2C on Saturday and Sunday, and the bitter easterly winds will leave a wind chill of around -8C.

Light snow showers are possible during Sunday morning and the early part of the afternoon.

“There is the potential for a spell of snow, moving west over southwest Britain on Saturday night, to become locally heavy on Sunday,” says a Met Office spokesman.

“Strong easterly winds will lead to some drifting of snow. Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers. Some delays and cancellations to rail and air travel are likely.”

Forecasters say the Burnham-On-Sea area is not expected to see the same amount of snow disruption that was experienced at the beginning of March.
